Poser 352 - Minute book of Lanark burgh, 1675 |
|
This week's poser is taken from a minute book for the burgh of Lanark and appears by kind permission of South Lanarkshire Council's Leisure and Culture Libraries and Museum service. The original volume may be consulted in the Local History department of Lanark Library. This extract illustrates the difficulty in telling apart the secretary letters d and e. Note also the short form of the secretary hand s and the double l (for example in Baillies – the fourth word in line 2). Download a printable version of this week's poser, PDF, 103KB, new window This week's questions:Which burgh officials were to go to Kilmarnock and what work were they to commission there? (Clue: the answer involves a Scots word). Help: Letter e |
