This week's poser is taken from the hearth tax roll for the barony of Airth, in Stirlingshire (National Archives of Scotland reference E69/22/1). Hearth tax rolls were compiled by sub-collectors in each county, and were often arranged estate by estate. Usually the main mansion house appears first and then a list of the tenants and other tax payers on the estate. In some cases the sub-collector listed the fermtouns and other settlements on the estate and listed the properties of tenants in the order he came across them.

How has the sub-collector listed the other tax payers at Airth?
