This week’s poser comes from a High Court of Justiciary minute book (National Archives of Scotland JC6/7 folio 100 recto) dated 15 August 1667.

Poser 169 featured a High Court precognition relating to the Pentland rebellion of 1666. This week the poser concerns the same trial but is from the minute book, written in court (even more hastily than the precognition). From the minute book we learn the rebel leaders’ forenames, demonstrating the researcher’s need to consult all available court records for a particular case to recover all details.

This week’s questions: who were the rebel leaders and what weapons did they carry?
