Kirk session minutes sometimes record that incomers to the parish had presented a certificate from their previous parishes. This week’s poser is an example of this, from the kirk session records for Rutherglen (National Archives of Scotland reference CH2/315/1, p156). The hand contains many secretary hand letters (note especially the a with its full diagonal ‘attacking’ stroke and the curly w), but it is untidy and some badly written letters (especially the h and h-ligatures) might throw you.

The questions this week are: can you find Nemo and what was the name of the minister who signed Nemo’s testimonial?
